What Is a Flip Clock?

A flip clock shows time on numbered cards divided into upper and lower halves. When a digit changes, its upper half folds away and the next lower half unfolds into place. Physical flip clocks use moving cards; this browser version recreates the motion with CSS. Only digits that change animate, so a minute turning from 09 to 10 flips both cards while an ordinary second changes just one. Choose seconds for a live rhythm or hide them for a quieter hours-and-minutes display. The clock reads your device’s local time, with no account or installation. It displays the time of day; use a timer or Pomodoro tool for a timed session.

Why Choose a Flip Clock?

Clear at a glance

Separate cards keep the hours and minutes easy to distinguish on a desk, second monitor or presentation screen.

A rhythm you can choose

Show seconds for frequent flips, or hide them to update only when the minute changes. Reduced motion uses an immediate digit update.

Fits your workspace

Nine finishes range from graphite and ivory to brass and frosted blue. The shared display controls let you adjust size, font and readable digit colors.

Where to Use Your Flip Clock

As a desk clock

Keep the tab open beside your work. Display the seconds, date or weekday according to your routine.

Presentations and streams

Show the clock on a second display or capture the browser in your recording. The device time zone can remain visible.

Second monitor or spare tablet

Move the browser to the spare screen, go full screen and request screen wake lock. Support, permission and device power settings still apply.

For deep work and study

Keep the current time on a spare screen. Open the Pomodoro Timer or a countdown separately when you want to measure a focus session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an account or an app?

No. The clock and timing tools are free to use in your browser. Preferences and city choices are saved locally when storage is available.

How do I make the clock bigger?

Choose Full screen or press F. Escape exits; browser zoom is also available. Moving the pointer or using the keyboard reveals the full-screen controls.

Can I hide the seconds and date?

Yes. Use the switches below the clock, or open Display settings. Seconds, date and local time zone can be turned off separately. With seconds hidden, only the hour and minute cards remain.

Can I use it as a screensaver?

Use full screen and request Keep screen on for a browser display that stays visible. This is not a system screensaver: keep the tab open and visible. Screen wake lock depends on browser support, permission and device power settings.

Can I embed this flip clock on my site?

There is no dedicated embeddable widget in this version. Use the share toolbar to copy the page link for your website or audience. The full-screen clock can also be captured as a browser window in a recording or stream.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, in a modern mobile browser. If native full screen is unavailable, a page-filling view is used. Home-screen shortcuts depend on your browser.

Is this online clock accurate?

It follows your device’s system time. Enable automatic time synchronization on the device; the site does not provide independent server time.

Will my display choices be remembered?

Style, time format, seconds, date, time zone, size and flip speed are saved in this browser when local storage is available. Private browsing or clearing site data may reset them. Returning after sleep shows current device time rather than replaying missed flips.
